彩涂板的鍍層就繞不開彩涂板的基板，順便也可以講一講鍍鋅板。彩涂板的基板可以分為（常用的，不常用的就暫不介紹）：冷軋、電鍍（冷鍍）、熱鍍鋅和熱鍍鋁鋅。彩涂板規(guī)格中，Z180是指：每平米（/㎡）的彩涂板雙面鍍鋅（其化學符號為Zn，Z是其簡寫）量為180g；AZ150是指每平米（/㎡）的彩涂板雙面鍍鋁（其化學符號為Al，A是其簡寫）鋅量為150g。

由冷軋基板生產(chǎn)的彩色板，具有平滑美麗的外觀，且具有冷軋板的加工性能；但是表面涂層的任何細小劃傷都會把冷軋基 板暴露在空氣中，從而使露鐵處很快生成紅銹。因此這類產(chǎn)品只能用于要求不高的臨時隔離措施和作室內(nèi)用材。這里面冷軋板（對應(yīng)國標里面的“原板”）就是一塊鐵，上面鍍層、涂層那些就像穿衣一樣一層一層將其包裹使其免于同空氣中的氧氣接觸。所以，彩涂板容不容易生銹就是看鍍層涂層厚不厚、質(zhì)量好不好。

理論上彩涂板的鍍層、涂層不被破壞的話其使用年限等于實驗室里面的試驗結(jié)論年限（大于20年結(jié)論的霧鹽實驗）。
