熱軋板，軋件的溫度高，因此變形抗力小，可以實現(xiàn)大的變形量。以鋼板的軋制為例，一般連鑄坯厚度在230mm左右，而經(jīng)過粗軋和精軋，最終厚度為1~20mm。同時，由于鋼板的寬厚比小，尺寸精度要求相對低，不容易出現(xiàn)板形問題，以控制凸度為主。對于組織有要求的，一般通過控軋控冷來實現(xiàn)，即控制精軋的開軋溫度、終軋溫度和卷曲溫度來控制帶鋼的微觀組織和機械性能。

從定義上來說，鋼錠或鋼坯在常溫下很難變形，不易加工，一般加熱到1100～1250℃進行軋制，這種軋制工藝叫熱軋。大部分鋼材都用熱軋方法軋制。但是因為在高溫下鋼的表面容易生成氧化鐵皮，使熱軋鋼材表面粗糙，尺寸波動較大，所以要求表面光潔、尺寸精確、力學(xué)性能好的鋼材，以熱軋半成品或成品為原料再用冷軋方法生產(chǎn)。

熱軋板如未經(jīng)酸洗處理，則與市場上很多普通鋼板的表面相類似，生了銹的表面為紅色，沒生銹的表面為紫黑色(氧化鐵皮)。
